Teaser Tuesdays (8)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  •  Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser

My Teasers (sorry its long but I thought it was funny together):
" The shot struck with the meat-bone thud of a heavy bullet and a punched-out shriek of agony. He heard footsteps in the hallway and a bullet staved in a panel of the inner door. He threw himself at a empty door, catching up the cane as he went, swung around lintel, and leaped up onto the wall from the upper step."
~ Pg. 136, "DarkbornBy: Alison Sinclair

P.S. Head over Here and check out other peoples Tuesday Teasers, and maybe make your own. Also do not forget to let me know what yours is as well.

Oh, and Vlad has a secret: His mother was human, but his father was a vampire. With no idea of the extent of his powers, Vlad struggles daily with his blood cravings and his enlarged fangs. When a substitute teacher begins to question him a little too closely, Vlad worries that his cover is about to be blown. But then he faces a much bigger problem: Heas being hunted by a vampire killer. (Summary Thanks to Chapters Indigo)

This book is one I have wanted for a while, then when I would finally decided to buy it my local bookstore was sold out so I thought it was not meant to be. I didn't have high expectations, I thought it would be a child novel nothing serious.  I was totally mistake this book captivated me after the first few pages. Vlad is so unique I love the idea of the story a boy born half human half vampire, to a world that did not know better. This novel had me giggling, but also some serious moments. This book was a quick read, but not too quick it didn't feel rushed. This books characters were unique all of them, SPOILER..... SPOILER ALERT..... there were times where I wished that Vlad would just bite Tom..... SPOILER...... SPOILER COMPLETE..... Anyways I adore the cover in the series especially the smiley faced vampire. This book at first seem predictable... but expect the unexpected. This is a must read never a dull moment. This is my second series with a male lead, my first Vampire male lead, can you guess what my first was... Has something to do with Witches??? Have you got it?? If you guessed Harry Potter then you were right.

P.S. I adore the way Vlad loves a cup of blood and chocolate chip cookies!!

I'm off on a Hunt to find Chronicle of Vladimir Tod: Ninth Grade Slays.

I Personally Rate this book:  4.png 4 picture by MidnightGlanceBlog

In My Mailbox (8)

Hey Guys so this is what was in my mailbox this week, if you don't know what that means here let me explain. The idea started over at the Story Siren I blog I adore, check Kristi out. But this is a weekly posting of all the fun arriving in your mail box, it doesn't have to been actually in your mail box but it can be a shopping bag as well. Enough with the talk lets get started.

So This is what I Got This week!!

And I thought I was having a bad week until Today (Saturday).

Bought Walmart (30% off cover price):

1. Twilight (Graphic Novel) By: Stephenie Meyer and adaptation By: Young Kim
2. Shadowland By: Alyson Noel

-Love, Love, and Love I can keep going. I love the covers to these books. I adore the Immortal Series, and I'm loving the Twilight Graphic Novel I have started reading it. Very excited to get back to the Immortal series.

3. Eternal By: Cynthia Leitich Smith
4. The Society of S By: Susan Hubbard

- Eternal is the Sequel to Tantalize (Haven't yet read the first but I could not let my self leave this one behind especially because of the price). The Society of S is a book I have never seen before. I have seen The Year of the Disappearance (I still haven't figured out if its the first or second in series), loving the idea of the book though.

Bought at the Book Depository:

5. Shiver By: Maggie Stiefvater

- This cover is my favorite and it has Finally arrived. Everyone love this book so I decided to pick it up, but what made me officially purchase the book was the UK cover. So excited to start reading this one.

Library Books Borrowed:

6. Hush By: Donna Jo Napoli
7. Girl in the Arena By: Lise Haines
8. Darkborn By: Alison Sinclair

Its was hard to track these books down. I love that I have finally borrowed them already. But the bad part they ended up showing up at the same time. Hopefully I have them read before the Due Date. Hush is a really different book to what I have been reading lately, but the description is very intriguing. The Girl in the Arena as well but also another I am super excited. Darkborn is one I jumped for joy when I saw it arrived.

Kiss & Hell By: Dakota Cassidy

Hell's not the only thing that's hot in the sinful new novel from the author of "Accidentally Dead."
Delaney Markham doesn't just see dead people, she hears them too. And FYI-communicating with tortured souls all day can really wreak havoc on your love life. Sans boyfriend, Delaney makes the best of her gift by holding sA(c)ances to make ends meet-that is until one incredibly annoying ghost just won't go away.
Besides being sinfully hot-in a college professor sort of way-all signs point to Clyde Atwell being much more than the ordinary spirit. In fact, he's a newbie demon whose first assignment is to take Delaney back down to hell with him. Yeah, like that's going to happen on the first date. (This summary was thanks to Chapters Indigo.Ca)

Magic is dangerous--but love is more dangerous still.

When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.
Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.
Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by--and torn between--two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length . . . everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world. . . . and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.
