Vampire Academy By: Richelle Mead

St Vladimir's Academy isn't just any boarding school-it's a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They've been on the run, but now they're being dragged back to St Vladimir's-the very place where they're most in danger...
Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy's ruthless social scene, and unspeakable night-time rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi - the world's fiercest and most dangerous vampires - make Lissa one of them forever. (Summary thanks to Chapters Indigo.ca).

Before I start, I have to say Richelle Meads Writing is wonderful. The book was nicely written just enough details nothing over the top, and great transitions. I love when each author has their opinions on what a Vampire is. I thought Richelle's idea of Vampire was awesome. Instead of the same old Vampires we are dealing with Morois are full vampires with magical powers, a lot are royals, then we have Dhampirs, and they are half vampire half human, they are basically Moroi's body guard (guards are mostly men). The story is about Lissa (Moroi) student and her best friend Rose (Dhampir) Rose is still in training. So I like how the story starts with Lissa and Rose having run away from the suspicion at St. Vladimir Academy. Rose and Lissa are not safe in or out of VA.
I like the connection between Rose and Lissa. The book is in Rose's point of view. With forbidden love, to a place of great safety ... Not so much. Strigoi are super bad vamps, who feed on Moroi blood for more powers. This book is a must read and actually in my top five favorites. Each character has their own uniqueness. The book was captivating from beginning til the end. I love school for Paranormals or anything with them in a school area. I really like the cover. Storyline was great, it was also developed.

MUST READ!!

I'd personally rate this book:
                                                      4
