A Great Terrible Beauty By: Libba Bray Book Review

It's 1895, and after the suicide of her mother, 16-year-old Gemma Doyle is shipped off from the life she knows in India to Spence, a proper boarding school in England. Lonely, guilt-ridden, and prone to visions of the future that have an uncomfortable habit of coming true, Gemma''s reception there is a chilly one. To make things worse, she''s been followed by a mysterious young Indian man, a man sent to watch her. But why? What is her destiny? And what will her entanglement with Spence's most powerful girls--and their foray into the spiritual world--lead to? (Summary Thanks to Chapters Indigo)

I was very excited to read this book my roommate said it was awesome kind of a Harry Potter, but different. I don't understand where she got that from... This book was totally different not what I thought it would be. This book was above and beyond what I could have expected, this book captivated me from start to finish, could not put it down.

I recently became fond of Victorian novels, this was a good addiction to the genre. As some of you know I adore a good Witch novel!! This book was not a Witch per say, but witch craft definitely. Character were really believable there was a point where I think I shed a tear. The characters were well thought out and deep but still that mystery that kept us guessing and wanting more.  I adore how there are elements of fiction and paranormal aspects but then again their are real life issues and how womens view of what they should live for (at the point in time in the 1800's). I adore the diary it's an awesome touch to the plot. I don't want to ruin anything just because the book tie's in nicely. So I kept this short and sweet.

Overall this is a must read. Ohh and I love the beginig of maybe a romeo and juliet love story. Rebel Angels here I come.

I would Personally Rate this Book:

5

Happy Reading Guys!!

This was a great book, wasn't it?? I loved it too the first time I read it and couldn't wait to dive into Rebel Angels.

I wonder if there are anymore books that are the same as this one.

Here is my review of the book. :)

I loved this series even though I really wanted to kick Gemma from time to time.

Really enjoyed this trilogy! And, um, just like you roommate, I thought it was a bit, a little bit, like Harry Potter (not as great obviously, but had the addiction of it).

Nice review. =)
