Poison Study by: Maria V. Snyder Book Review
About to be executed for murder, Yelena is offered an extraordinary reprieve. She'll eat the best meals, have rooms in the palace-- and risk assassination by anyone trying to kill the Commander of Ixia.
And so Yelena chooses to become a food taster. But the chief of security, leaving nothing to chance, deliberately feeds her Butterfly's Dust and only by appearing for her daily antidote will she delay an agonizing death from the poison. As Yelena tries to escape her new dilemma, disasters keep mounting. Rebels plot to seize Ixia and Yelena develops magical powers she can't control. Her life is threatened again and choices must be made. But this time the outcomes aren't so clear....
(Summary Thanks to Goodreads)
Yelena is a character who is in a sticky situation she is about to be hung for murder. Wait don't get disappointed yet Yelena then gets offered a once in a life time position (Literally, like a get out of hanging card... get it monopoly). This once in the life time position may be a life saver for Yelena, or is it. Sorry I'm having way too much fun with all these sarcastic jokes it's just so easy. Anyways back on track (I get distracted very easily). Would you prefer a death thats is set such as date and time, or a death that could occur at any time? Well thats the chance Yelena gets is either get hanged, or be the food tester for the Commander, and never know when she'll get poisoned.
I really like Yelena, lately in the books I have been reading the protagonists do not really catch my attention, but Yelena did. Then there is Valek who at first I really disliked, but after we start seeing his true colors I end up falling for him (he actually reminds me of a person in my life!). My other favorites characters in this novel have to be hands down Ari and Janco they were like big brothers and I loved how they were there for Yelena and how she gained their trust with one simple gesture (sorry I'm not going to spoil this book).
I loved Poison Study, but there were some predictable aspects and that is the reasoning behind the rating I gave this book. Overall it was well written good transitions and characters were well developed, but also with some mystery behind others. I liked how descriptive some aspect of the book were. I highly recommend Poison Study. Last but not least this book did not have a cliffhanger ending you can choose to continue the journey with Yelena or not (preferably yes). Speaking of the end I hated it, but loved it the reasoning behind that is that I wanted it to go one way the "predictable way" but Snyder turned it around.
My Blurb for this Novel: "A well written, love-able book that could have you up all night wanting more. Yelena is an awesome feisty character that will have you on your toes through her journey. This bundle of joy is a must read Young Adult Fantasy fiction."
I would Personally Rate this Novel:
Happy Reading Guys

Van Alen Legacy By: Melissa De La Cruz Book Review (Contains Spoilers, maybe more then one)
Basic Story: Schuyler is back for another installment is the Blue Blood novels. So after the Croaten Massacre that happen in Rio Sky is being accused of the occurrences and the death of her grandfather Lawrence Van Alen, knowing that she is innocent Sky and Oliver (her Conduit/ BFF/ Human Familiar) set out on a journey to fulfill the Van Alen Legacy (but just one problem Sky doesn't know what it is). So she and Oliver travel around the world in hunt of the Van Alen Legacy, but first she need to figure out how to keep her safe from the American coven (Corrupted might I add).
Bliss is confused and alone (not literally) her mother Bobi-Ann was killed in Rio, her so called sister had gone missing, her father is distant and her best friend has run away! Also her love killed by a silver blood! All shes left with is a short memory, blackouts and a Visitor who doesn't leave her!!
Mimi is off on an adventure living her life to the fullest love ahh love she's on top of the world (thanks to Sky) running away with her Conduit! Mimi has Jack where she wants him. Right??but nothing is as it seems!!
I love these blue bloods books (I sometimes think I love them more then... Twilight!!) I know how, but I do! The beginning of the book was kind of the confusing I don't know if it's because I read Revelations a while ago or just because! After I got hooked on these book a bit predictable except the end!
I don't know I like Oliver but not as a boyfriend more of a friend like Simon and Clary in the Mortal Instrument Series! I love that Melissa De La Cruz got creative with the whole history around this book and it was very descriptive and I was able to visualize it! I love the end of this book kept me wanting more! I hate that I have to wait until October 2010 for Misguided Angel even June 29th 2010 Keys to the Repository. I love that everyone knows something that could help each other in the over all happiness but it hurts the over all happiness but it hurts you because you wish you had a phone to fiction land to call the characters and tell them the out come of there actions.
This was yet another well written book by Melissa De La Cruz, great Character transition. There were some parts I wished to rush but the rest of the book made up for that. I adore this book cover it might be my favorite in the whole series. I would highely reccommend this series especially for all you young adult vampire lovers.
Series Order:
1. Blue Bloods
2. Masquerade
3. Revelation
4. The Van Alen Legacy
*Keys to the Repository (Extension novel)*
5. Misguided Angel

Accidentally Dead By: Dakota Cassidy Book Review (Adult Paranormal Fiction, Not a YA novel)
A vampire puts the bite on a dental assistant.
It’s a lousy first day on the job for Nina Blackman when a patient, loopy from the anesthesia, bites her. At least he was cute. But for real drama she can’t beat the next evening. Nina wakes up with a set of razor-sharp fangs, bionic vision, supersonic hearing, and a taste for blood. But there’s a good explanation: It’s her patient, Long Island vampire Greg Statleon. Actually they’re perfect for each other—if Nina’s willing to commit to one man for eternity. (Summary thanks to GoodReads).
Before starting my review I just have one thing to say you must Read Accidental Werewolf it will help in understanding where Nina comes from, or else you might not like this one. After reading Accidental Werewolf, I wanted more of all the characters especially my favorite Nina.
Nina's is the most sarcastic, rude, and full of drama character that everyone will love. Nina added such a flare to this series that after the first book you want more of here!! So I picked this book up asap after finishing the first in the series. Let me tell you this book did not disappoint me at all. I like Werewolves, but to me they have nothing on Vampires.
I adore Dakota Cassidy's writing it's so smooth and easy to get addicted within pages. Dakota's take on vampires is unique and fun. Dakota's characters are well thought out and come together so greatly. I adore the men she chooses. Greg is so hot, with an edge great for Nina the Sarcastic she Devil. She has some awesome friends because if it was up to me I would have told her to go floop herself ages ago (yet I love her), but deep down Nina has a heart. The more you read this book the more you start seeing the light at the end of Nina's Tunnel of Love.
The only thing perdictable is the Romeo and Juliet love story, but other then that I would have never guessed where this book was taking me. WHICH ISN'T BAD!! I adored this book and eat it up. BUT!! This book did have some parts that where a little dry (but nothing to big) and thats probably why it doesn't have a perfect rating. Also the reason for this judgement call is I have to compare this to the first in its series, and it was a BANG of a book.
This is Not a book for Teen's (Due to coarse language, and some other stuff so I give it 18+). This book is a Paranormal Romance. MUST READ :) Sorry if I spoiled anything but I couldn't resist!! Dakota's awesome definitely check her out!!
